Attitude is All That Matters

from Smile for No Good Reason
by Dr. Lee Jampolsky

Have you ever noticed that two people can confront the same circumstances with very different reactions? This is a matter of attitude and nothing else. Freedom is being able to say, “Rich or poor, alone or with a mate, physically healthy or not, employed or laid off, I believe that peace of mind is possible.”

We have all experienced what it is like to be having a perfectly fine day and have a situation or crisis arise that sends us into a tailspin. It may be something small like a traffic jam making us late, or something more severe like the loss of a job. Our response can seem automatic.

Though at first it may be difficult to accept, freedom depends on recognizing that you’re not upset because of what occurred, you are upset because of how you perceive the situation. Key to Attitudinal Healing is recognizing that you are not a victim of the world.

Another way of saying this is: There is absolutely nothing in the world that has the power to ruin your day. If you are upset, it is because you have directed your mind to be so. Initially these truths can be hard to accept because you have become so accustomed to giving your power away. Every time you blame another person for your unhappiness you are giving your power away. Stop blaming and start healing.

How you perceive a situation will determine your experience and your reaction. Let’s imagine that you have a favorite coffeehouse that you frequent. The staff knows your name and always has a warm and friendly greeting as you walk through the door. An extremely grumpy woman whom you have never seen before serves you this particular morning. She appears preoccupied rather than caring about you or what she is doing. As she pours your hot coffee a good portion spills in your lap. Despite your jumping in shock, no apology follows. Your experience is anger: both toward the waitress and the owner, Joe, for hiring such an incompetent person. Then, a friend of yours at the next booth says, “Isn’t it great that Joe hired her!”

“Great! Are you out of your mind? She just spilled hot coffee in my lap and walked away,” you reply with your best indignant voice.

“Oh, you didn’t hear the story?” your friend whispers.

“What story?” you angrily reply, still drying off your new slacks, wondering how you will go through the day looking as though you wet your pants.

“Yeah, Joe didn’t know her from Adam. He read in the paper that her husband had died last month in a car accident. Apparently her husband’s health insurance stopped, and she was looking for another job in order to pay for her sixteen-year-old son’s chemotherapy for leukemia,” your friend responds.

Now, you still have hot coffee in your crotch, but are you still angry? Unlikely. The only thing that shifted was your perception and attitude. Through discovering a reason to be compassionate, your entire experience changed—and there are always reasons to be compassionate.

An important part of healing (i.e., letting go of fear) is developing compassion. Instead of going out in the world and finding plenty of reasons to be upset, go out and discover reasons to extend love. There are thousands of reasons waiting for you right now. A helpful thought to remember is that a miracle is nothing more than allowing an old grievance to become a current compassion.

If you ever run short on reasons to be compassionate, remember there is always one good reason: It makes you feel better than anything else you could do.

Have a wonderful day!!!

5 Signs You’re Going To Make It Big One Day

We’ve all got dreams of making it ‘big’ one day, but how many of us actually follow through with those dreams? We make excuses for our lack of success, saying things like, “Life got in the way,” or “I can’t handle anymore rejection.”
But not you! You’re on the fast-track to fame and success. Or are you?
Think you’ve got what it takes to make it big? Here are some signs you’re right:
1. You’ve Got A Dream (A Big One!)
What’s your vision? What do you want to accomplish? What are your hopes and dreams? Having a dream – even if it’s a little vague – is crucial for success. Before you can start your journey, you need to have a goal in mind!
In the words of Walt Disney, "If you can dream it, you can do it." (And before you can do it, you've got to dream it!)
2. You’ve Got A Road Map, But You're Prepared To Take Detours
They say success is where preparation and opportunity meet. So, when opportunity comes ‘a knockin,’ you’re going to want to have your plan already in place. Think of it as your road map to making it big!
What steps do you need to take to get where you want to be? Who do you need to know? What skills do you need to have?
But, let's be real here, nothing EVER goes exactly according to plan. You need to be able to adapt to whatever life throws at you. Think of those things as detours. They're not a huge deal as long as you figure out how to get back on the main road!
3. You’re Extremely Curious
You need to have an innate fascination with whatever it is you’re working toward. You've got to learn as much as you can about the industry, the people, the culture, and so on. You need to want to be consumed by it. You've got to understand the problems and be excited about finding solutions. You’ve got to be passionate, excited, and curious about all areas of the biz.
When Larry King made his debut in radio, he made a point to become consumed in the biz. In addition to doing his own show, he did the weather reports, the sports updates, and the news broadcasts. He even volunteered to fill in in for people who were out sick, and took on double shifts.
Why? He wanted to learn all there was to know about the biz. He wanted to practice. He wanted to be good at what he did. The only way to do that was to explore and go above and beyond what was asked of him. He called it "taking extra batting practice."
4. You’re A Little Cocky (Just A Little)
If you really want to make it, you’ve got to have confidence in yourself and your abilities. Without confidence, you can so easily get crushed by negativity and criticism – things you will have to deal with once you hit the spotlight.
You have to be confident. You have to trust yourself. And you have to have a deep understanding that you’re going to make it. For actress Jennifer Lawrence, that understanding came at a young age.
“I always knew that I was going to be famous,” she told Vogue magazine. “I honest to God don't know how else to describe it. I used to lie in bed and wonder: ‘Am I going to be a local TV person? Am I going to be a motivational speaker?’ It wasn't a vision. But as it's kind of happening, you have this buried understanding: Of course.”
5. You Realize Failure Is A Minor Setback, Not A Game Changer
If you’re even thinking about making it big one day, the word “quit” can’t be in your vocabulary. In the end, you don’t succeed because you don’t fail; you succeed because you don’t give up. The second you quit, you’ve lost.
Take Michael Jordan, for example. He has a famous quote, "I've failed over and over again in my life, and that is why I succeed." The only reason he succeeded was because he didn't let those failures discourage him to the point of quitting. Why? Because he realized his failures were only minor setbacks - not game changers.
I guarantee you that everyone you look up to has failed at one point or another, but did that stop them from picking themselves back up and moving forward? No way, Jose. And that’s why they’re successful.
If you’ve got all of these qualities – congratulations. I’m sure we’ll be hearing your name sometime soon!
What are your secrets to success? What else do you think is necessary for making it big? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Cheers!!!

Our restructured team

We, at JVS, always strive for the continuous development of all in the team. All are given ample opportunity for learning newer tasks and taking up additional responsibility. Not a single day goes without new learning.

Sriram Dixit had been a great performer in the team, showing a great deal of enthusiasm to execute all the tasks entrusted to him. The time had come for him to explore greener pasture and it is with a heavy heart we had to bid him a farewell.

We wish him all success in his newer endeavors in his career.

Chain

Whenever we receive a requirement form any of our client, it is cascaded down to all in the team. The team is on the job immediately, shortlisting candidates from the data base. If need be, suitable candidates are head-hunted.

Once the shortlisting process is done, these candidates are validated for their suitability. Then those who are suitable are forwarded to the clients' HR team.

The team at JVS and the candidates whose profiles were forwarded wait anxiously for the feedback from the client. Unless the HR team at the Clients' receive the feedback form the HODs to whom they had forwarded the profiles, they cannot revert to us.

At times, the positions which were requisitioned get filled up "internally", "put on hold", "will be filled up by the head office". In these circumstances, the efforts that had gone in for validating and forwarding profiles go waste.

We source for such candidates on behalf of our clients, who are looking for interesting and challenging roles in their careers. We also check with them on their location preference. However, clients are more particular to hire local candidates.  At times, candidates refuse an opportunity because the work location is too far!!!

A candidate ultimately joining a client's organisation is like arranging a wedding between two partners!!!

Physically Challenged Offered Employment

Quite some time back I had posted in this blog about opportunities for the physically challenged. In fact, I had campaigned for this cause with a couple of our clients. Incidentally one of them has offered employment for 5 such candidates and they have joined yesterday. I am so happy. Hope there will be many more employers coming forward to assist us in this cause.
